The History of the 55th, "The Iron Web"

Originally constituted on WM_Prime in 2801 as the 55th Irregulars, the original cadre of the 55th consisted of miscreants and freebirths. Unlike their sister binary, the 1st A.C.E.S., which consisted of the best and brightest trueborns available to Clan Widowmaker, the 55th was intended as an ad-hoc trinary to place warriors who did not "fit in" with others. This worked to the advantage of the 55th, as their "abnormal approach" to missions resulted in a high rate of success in every endeavor. As their victories mounted in various campaigns, the Keshik reorganized the 55th on June 6th, 2822 as the 55th Binary, "The Iron Web".

The binaries name comes from the Pentagon Campaigns in 2821 in which the 55th was nearly routed by defending Clan Wolverine forces when all of the 55ths supporting forces were decimated by a series of air strikes and well placed combat drops behind the CWM lines. Star Colonel Raiden Conner quickly regained control of his command and led a series of bold strikes right into the heart of the enemy. Surviving Wolverines after the battle were reported as claiming the 55th forces had "turned into an impenetrable Iron Web."

At present day, the 55th continues to be a greatly feared force across the periphery, even though Clan Widowmaker is now been branded Bandit or Pirate by the Clans. In keeping with their tradition though, the touman of the Iron Web is still manned by miscreants, freebirths and "The Fallen" from other Clans.
